Welcome to Chernobyl Aid Devon

Chernobyl Aid Devon is a Registered Charity that was formed from a Charitable Group that operated in the Teignbridge Area of South Devon.

This group was called THATCH (Teignbridge Humanitarian Aid to Chernobyl) and was formed in 2001 by Tom Archer from Christow and John Fisher from Ashburton.

They had both been involved in the Chernobyl Charity sector hosting children on recuperative holidays for some years, and were offered the opportunity to visit Belarus through a grant from the EU and UN.

They visited a Town called Khoiniki, (HOY- NEE -KEE) which is in Southern Belarus about fifty miles from the Ukraine Border and about eighty miles from the Chernobyl Reactor Site.

What they found was a very friendly population who were struggling against immense hardship...
